Birthday Photography in Irving, TX: Emilio Turns One

September 15, 2024

Emilio’s first birthday in Irving, TX was one to remember—filled with laughter, surprises, and a side of boxing drama thanks to the Canelo vs. Berlanga fight. A year earlier, I was capturing his baby shower. Now, I was back in Dallas County for his next big milestone. This is why I love birthday photography—you get to be part of a family’s growing story.

The fight night added an extra layer of fun. As the only Puerto Rican in a room full of my Mexican friends, they gave me the best seat in front of the TV—probably hoping to see me react as things went south for Berlanga. And I did. But it was all in good fun and made the night that much more memorable.

📸 A Camera Glitch (and a Lesson Learned)

I shot the event using my Sony A7III with a 50mm f/1.8, plus an off-camera flash on a stand. It was my first shoot since getting my camera back from service—and I forgot to double-check the settings.

Turns out, I shot the entire event in JPEG instead of RAW. Anyone who’s done birthday party photography knows how limiting that can be for editing. But hey, the photos still turned out great, and it was a solid reminder to always review your settings before the first click.

🎉 Birthday Party Highlights in Irving

Despite the hiccup, the celebration in Irving delivered everything a great party photography session needs:

  • Kids laughing and playing under string lights
  • Family hugs and real reactions during gift opening
  • A crowd split between birthday cake and boxing commentary
  • Beautiful candid moments I almost missed—but didn’t

Capturing these scenes felt like street photography at times—fast-paced and unpredictable. That’s what makes birthday photography exciting: the story is always unfolding in real time.

💡 Final Thoughts

First birthdays like Emilio’s are full of energy, emotion, and little moments that matter most to the people there. Being trusted to document those is something I don’t take lightly.

Birthday photography in places like Irving, TX gives me the chance to freeze time for families—and tell their stories with honesty and heart.

I’ll be there for his second birthday, no doubt—settings triple-checked and ready for whatever surprises come next.
